Written in response to photography of a calf tethered inches from and in full view of the slaughter of another, awaiting same.

A sacred beast is sent to slaughter,
torn from contented pasturage.
My brother commits another murder.

The carcass hangs headless, her sister
a tethered witness to the carnage.
A sacred beast is sent to slaughter.

One wrist flick?slit?massacre.
Slick blade carves cartilage.
My brother commits another murder.

Band saw screams through bone, to butcher
in a hot stream of bovine haemorrhage.
A sacred beast is sent to slaughter.

She dies to feed the insatiable human hunger
for flesh. Toiling for a working class wage,
my brother commits another murder.

White fat gleams on sliced flesh. A living burger
barbeques, continuing our carnivorous heritage.
A sacred beast is sent to slaughter.
My brother commits another murder.
